Kalantar, Levon

Born - 16.01.1891 in Tbilisi. Died - 29.10.1959 in Yerevan.
1916 - graduated from the Eastern Studies Department of Petersburg University. Since 1916- actor and director of a range of Armenian and Georgian Theatres. 1918 - founded a Theatrical Studio along with Rouben Mamoulian in Tbilisi. Founder of Armenian Theatre in Georgia, one of the founders of the Sundukyan Drama Theatre in Yerevan. 1928-30 - chief director of Armenian Theatre in Baku. 1930-31- director at Armenfilm Studio. 1931-35 - executive director at Gorky Yerevan Theatre. 1937- 43 and 1957-59 - executive director of Stanislavsky Russian Drama Theatre in Yerevan.
